Stop Wasting Time

Time and Change

Every new year is an opportunity given to us by destiny to improve our management of time and change. We are already well into the year and it is moving with speed and acceleration. You have to make a promise to yourself that in this new year, you will be a professional manager of your time and change.

We are on earth to complete and fulfill a task, hence, we don't have forever to fulfill our earthly purpose. We have a time limit and the passing of it makes us accountable to a our Maker. I want to point our attention to a very critical verse of scripture; "The length of our lives is decided beforehand - the number of months we live; You have settled it, and it can't be changed - Job 14:5 GNT." Our life is on a timeline, we don't have eternity to fulfill our purpose.

Every new year is a chapter of a man's book of how well he has managed time. We look with so much excitement about the new year, but what happened to the last one? Time and change are the only raw materials that are common to everyone, rich, poor, and in between. How we use these raw materials is what differentiates us.

I have good news though, we have a new opportunity. This new year provides us the opportunity of redefining our priorities, purpose, vision, goals, etc. It gives us the opportunity to get rid of our past and the chance to plan another future. The secret to life is the effective MANAGEMENT of time and change; and the principle key to the management of time and change is PLANNING.

Successful people are effective people who plan how they use time, that's why you have to plan. IF YOU AIM AT NOTHING, YOU NEVER MISS. Planning creates, the Bull's eye, the target, aims, and without it, you will just keep shooting in the wind. The only thing that regulates time and change is Your Planning; without a plan, time and change will ruin you. You don't need plenty things which are unrealistic, you simply need a targeted goal which with your small daily steps are achievable. Get a plan so strong that time will submit to it and change will also align to it.

It's a new year, a new phase, a fresh start, a new opportunity, a new beginning, a clean slate. Make it count!

Proverbs 16:3: "Commit to the Lord, whatever you plan to do, and your plans will succeed"

More than ever, You need a higher power than you to make your plans succeed and that's the GOD-FACTOR.

Develop Yourself Intentionally

The 1% Rule

Every single day, we have a choice to get a tiny bit better or a tiny bit worse. One of the most powerful ideas I have ever learnt is an idea called the 1% rule by James Clear (Author of the book, Atomic Habits). In the 1% rule, it says something really interesting; it says "What if you could improve yourself by just 1% everyday." Now let me explain this better; if you get better by 1% everyday, after one year, you are actually 37.78% better (1.01^365 = 37.78%).

Think about that, that's actually 37.78% more you, a better you. This shows in a person, it shows in every aspect of you (spirit, soul and body). It shows in the way you look, in the income you earn, in the way you carry yourself, in the type of people you associate with, e.t.c, and that's basic maths. The issue is most people don't do that, most people fail to make any decision in regards to that choice, hence, they let the days unfold for them blindly with no intention.

Think about this, we have this thing called TIME, most of us waste our time. Look at these stats: On average, we spend about 15 mins waiting for public transport, 25 mins waiting for a meal at a restaurant, 22 mins on average in a queue at the bank, about 45 mins in traffic, and we can go on and on. We toss away minutes all the time. One of the things I would recommend whenever people want to improve some aspects of their life is to simply be intentional with time.

What do I mean? Well there are so many things out there we could do to get the most out of our time, but at the basic level, we got to set aside 20 mins a-day and mark that time; in that 20 mins, dedicate yourself to learning something related to personal growth. Not learning something about History, Geography, Chemistry and the likes, NO, all that has its place; I am talking about Personal Growth, how to be better and all the things that make you humanly relevant. 20 mins a-day!

We can decide to wake up earlier and do it before we go to work or we can decide to set a different time, but that 20 mins is so important. You can decide to read a book, learn a skill daily, build a business model, whatever you do that increases your growth and personal development, but that 20 mins a-day when applied to personal growth is probably the number one thing you can do in life, humanly speaking. It is one of the most important things our schools can teach, it is one of the most important things companies can give their employees.

Remember 20 mins a-day applied to personal growth is 1% gain every single day, and these gains add up. Adopt a deliberate clear focus on personal growth in 2020 and you will see how much of a "better you" comes into being. The most important goals you can set for yourself in the New Year is a personal development goal, you don't need plenty things, you only need to be intentional on the small steps you take and you will be amazed at how those little steps combine to form something huge for you. It's 1% daily!

Article Briefing

This isn't just another post we hear at the end of the year. We have heard so many things over the years; things like write your goals, follow them, plan your life, the Dos and Don'ts of the New Year so that it can be better for us. Well I want to defer from that and say something more compelling here.
